Welcome To Jamie Heyl Photography!"For every step of your life"People often ask me what my favorite type of photography is and I answer differently at different times, depending on what I am doing or working on. I love taking photos, of every kind ... well, not landscape or pet photos, but always "people" photos. It is often said in the photography world that you can not specialize in everything, and I believe that. Not every photographer can be the best at every type of photography - I know I have plenty to learn about lots of different things. I am always learning and growing. But I can LOVE every type of photography which is why the tag line of my business is "for every step of your life." I love to watch my clients and their families grow. To photograph a couple from their engagement through their wedding and then the birth of their first child is an amazing experience. Then to watch that child grow through their first years, graduate from high school and start the cycle over is awe-inspiring. I haven't quite been in business long enough for that, but I have had the privelige of photographing the weddings of some of my Senior clients! So whether you are just beginning to build your family or your family is growing up and moving on, I would be honored to be a part of that. To photograph the love between you and your partner grow into a tiny family and then follow that family through the college years and beyond - its the part of my job that I will always love the most. So thank you for considering me to photograph every step of your life. Jamie |
Adalyn is One! {Lafayette Baby Photographer}
Posted on June 3, 2010
I can never believe how quickly time goes by. In just a couple short weeks, my niece, Adalyn, will be a year old. It seems like just a few months ago I was taking her newborn pictures! Last weekend was the perfect time to take her pictures, too. My husband had taken our oldest down to the camp and my mom was keeping my little one for the first time EVER (she did great, by the way). I had an engagement session in Lafayette, so I decided to hang out with my sister and her kids. It was really nice to be by myself for once and since it doesn’t usually work out trying to take pictures with all four kids around us, this was our chance to do it with just her two.
These were taken at Vermillionville in Lafayette, which is the perfect location for just about any session (and I don’t mind traveling, in fact, I LOVE going there to take photos, there’s so many cool little places!) Its just about an hours drive from Morgan City and the fee is only $25.00 to take photos there. I’ve really been wanting to do an engagement session and a Senior session there, so if you are interested, let me know! Lafayette also has Acadian Village, which is very similar and just as cool! I think the fee there is $30.
Anyway, Adalyn did wonderfully despite it being very hot. I just had to plop her down wherever I wanted and she’d start smiling away! We got through 3 of her 4 outfit changes and even got a couple of shots of big brother. I’ve got a really funny collage of images from him, he’s so funny, you’ll see why …
When we walked into one of the homes (you can go into most of them and look around) they had this beautiful antique baby crib, we were so excited about it!
My sister has been working on making these flowers that are perfect for portrait sessions…hopefully this summer we’ll be able to get some photos of them and get them up in an Etsy store!
And here’s big brother, Ethan, who will be 3 in August:
At first, he was good with getting his picture taken. Then I asked him to sit on this little chair and he wasn’t too thrilled. I was being goofy, trying to get him smiling and this is what happened. I crack up every time I see these:
