Olivia – 2011 Senior {Berwick Senior Photographer}
Posted on March 25, 2011
In almost 4 years of taking Senior portraits, I’ve never had a girl start their session the way Olivia did … “Mom, can I just take like 1-2 pictures?” Olivia didn’t want to take pictures! I was kind of taken aback and definitely very nervous after that. Sure, I’ve had guys that didn’t want to be there and were just doing it for their moms, but never a girl, ever. So I had to work hard to gain Olivia’s trust and get her to relax and have fun. We drove all over Berwick visiting some pretty unique places, a few I’ve never been to before, and I think the results are wonderful. The first location we visited was fantastic, I had so much fun exploring it! Olivia is a stunning girl and I have no idea why she wouldn’t want pictures of herself! Both her mom and dad were along for the session and it was quite a lot of fun! I think by the end, even Olivia was enjoying herself
Can you believe we got all of these different looks and we didn’t have to leave Berwick?
Samantha – 2011 Rep {Berwick Senior Photographer}

Almost every time I photograph a Senior, they reply that they “can’t do serious.” A lot of the time, we have to get through a fit of giggles before it can even be attempted. I know where they are coming from, because I, too, can’t do serious. I look angry and its quite funny to me. Samantha was no different – at both of her rep sessions, she had a hard time with the serious faces but to be honest, they are my absolute favorites of her. Don’t get me wrong – she has a beautiful, bright smile that lights up her face, but I think she does the serious poses quite well! We had a great time wandering around Laurel Valley, which is always an amazing location for any type of session, but especially for seniors. Samantha’s wardrobe fit right in, especially her denim dress and cowboy boots … of course, I had to stick her in the hay stack for that outfit
She also brought along her uniform, ball and glove so that we could incorporate her love of softball and she also brought along her boyfriend who, despite hiding out in the car the entire time, I made get out for a shot of them together
Jacob – ED White 2011 Senior {Thibodaux Senior Photographer}

Guys don’t usually actively search out a photographer for their Senior photos … most of them would probably skip it, if it was up to them. If they do take them, its generally because their moms are insistent, so I try to make it as painless as possible. I’m a pretty casual and laid-back photographer and I genuinely enjoy working hard to put Seniors as ease.
Jacob’s mom called a while ago to set up his Senior session and I was excited to have someone from ED White in Thibodaux. Jacob’s brother was also along for the session and to get a few shots of them together. I shot two of Jacob’s cousins in the last few years, so his mom was familiar with my work and trusted me to figure out the locations. I enjoyed incorporating Jacob’s uniforms and baseball equipment and the location was the perfect backdrop for this. Its been so nice shooting in this weather, I really love this time of year!
