Amanda – Nottoway Bridals {Baton Rouge Wedding Photographer}
Posted on August 27, 2011
The first half of this year was so incredibly busy and hectic that I have a backlog of bridal portraits to post, some really gorgeous brides that I really want to show off! With bridal portraits, they are often taken so far in advance of the wedding that I forget to post them after the wedding, so I’ll be catching up on them over the next couple of days and weeks!
Amanda was married at Nottoway in March and I was so THRILLED when she told me we were shooting her bridals there. I have always been fascinated by plantations and had never been to Nottoway. Its such a beautiful place, especially the white ballroom! These are some of my favorite bridals ever, Amanda is just stunning!
Ethan – 4 Years Old {Thibodaux Child Photographer}

All of the credit for the creativity of this session must go to my sister … she and I have been talking about ideas for styled sessions for a few months now and when it was time to take my nephew’s 4 year pictures, this is what she came up with. Sessions like this are perfect for this age and instead of being a stressful experience, its just another day of play for the kids. It makes it much easier for the parents as well because they don’t have to stand back and get frustrated because their child isn’t sitting and smiling. Not only was this session perfect for Ethan, but it incorporated many meaningful items as well – the camera and covered wagon belonged to our grandfather who passed away a few years ago, the wagon belongs to Ethan’s grandparents. The Little Golden Books, while they didn’t belong to my sister, bring back memories of her childhood and the books she loved so much as a child.
I have talked to some of my recent clients and explained that this is the direction I want to start taking my photography. These sessions are so enjoyable to everyone involved and while they take a LOT of preparation and thought, in the end, its worth it. This series of photos would make a beautiful wall collection or a cherished photo book. I’ve got tons of ideas for different styled sessions and am even giving thought to doing this for my Christmas sessions this year. If you are interested or have an idea for a styled session for your child or family, please contact me to discuss options!

Sweet little Ethan reminds me a bit of Hayden when he was a baby … he has long thin legs and is just so darn cute! He was so sweet and good for our session, I don’t think I saw his eyes open at all except for a little peek here and there. The guitar was a gift from his grandfather, who gives one to all the grandbabies. You can’t really tell in the photo, but its a child-sized guitar, so cute!
