Julia – 5 Days {New Orleans Newborn Photographer}

Posted on September 30, 2011

My hands were itching to get a hold of baby Julia and when I heard she was coming last Monday, I was thrilled!  I had ordered lots of new headbands, gotten some new blankets and even ordered a new bean bag.  The morning of the session, my headbands hadn’t come in yet and I couldn’t get the beans into my bean bag (which I had ordered, not knowing it came unfilled!)  But it all worked out perfectly anyway – Julia is an absolute doll, so many little chunky rolls and her mommy already had some amazing accessories for her!  Almost everything we used in the session belongs to Julia!  Julia’s aunt is one of my oldest friends from high school, Nathan and Nicholas’ mommy and I’ve known Julia’s mommy since she was little.  Courtney, thank you for sharing Julia with  me for a little while, I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Brian and Megan – Engaged! {New Orleans Wedding Photographer}

Posted on September 29, 2011

Megan’s married name will be Armstrong, so she had the idea to take a few photos at Armstrong Park in Downtown New Orleans.  I wasn’t too sure what to expect.  This park has always had a bit of a bad reputation and most people know to stay far away from it, especially at night.  Once we arrived, I was excited to discover that this place is really quite unique and beautiful!  Its such a shame that it isn’t safe to use … I was amazed at all the cool little areas and had fun walking around (but not going to far into) the park.  Thanks to Megan for having the idea!  Unfortunately, there was construction going on around the “ARMSTRONG” arch, so we had to work around that a bit :-(

This is a really neat bridge that leads from another entrance, over the waterways.  I loved all the diagonal lines and the metal beams, combined with the wooden slats!

After exploring Armstrong Park for a little while, we headed over to City Park for some relaxed, casual pictures.  Megan had gotten a few ideas from looking at other sessions and we were able to incorporate a few of them.

Megan had a great laugh, it got me laughing along with her every time!

Philip and Holly – Engaged! {Morgan City Wedding Photographer}

Posted on September 28, 2011

Well, to say that this was a long day is an understatement!  From long hair appointments, to getting lost and making wrong turns, things kept popping up all day long during their engagement session, but Holly and Philip kept smiling and we all enjoyed the beautiful day we had.  We started off at Jefferson Island (Rip Van Winkle Gardens) in New Iberia and made our way all over the place.  Its such a beautiful location, so many unique structures and gardens.  My sister was married there 5 1/2 years ago, so its always fun to go back and see what has been added and / or changed.  After a little while there, we decided to head to Avery Island for a few shots Holly had her heart set on.  We went just a little bit out of our way (ha!) but eventually made it there and then wound up going the wrong way up the path and having to re-arrange our plans.  In the end, it all worked out and since the company was good, I enjoyed the day.  Congrats you guys, looking forward to the wedding in a couple of months!

Philip was a Marine stationed in Japan when he and Holly met, so we had to do some shots of him in his dress blues … in the “holly hedges” that Holly loved so much :-)
