Jared & Carin – Married! {Morgan City Wedding Photographer}
Posted on November 30, 2011
Every wedding I witness touches me in one way or another. Whether its one fleeting glance between the bride and groom that I just happened to catch or a heartfelt speech given by a parent, it truly is an amazing honor to be a part of someone’s love story. But I feel even more honored to be a part of this one.
When I first met Carin, it was at her apartment and she was alone. Her fiance’, Jared, is in the Army and was stationed in Afghanistan at the time of our meeting. When we met up earlier this year for their engagement session, Jared was just home for a couple of short weeks. He was leaving just days after our session to spend another 6+ months in Afghanistan. I can’t even imagine what that must be like for a couple. We had a lot of fun incorporating some of Jared’s Army things into Carin’s bridal portraits and I’m sure it was an unbelievable feeling for Carin when Jared came home again, just days before their November wedding; I knew the wedding would be an emotional one.
Just as the pastor said before their ceremony, Jared and every one he served with are true heroes. Completely ordinary men and women who do unbelievably extraordinary things to keep us safe and free. Thank you to Jared and everyone else in the military for all you do for us. And thank you both Carin and Jared for letting me be a part of your story:
I always love the shots that show how attentive sisters and friends can be to the bride … everyone was doing something different for her
Carin requested a shot of them holding hands, but not seeing each other … lots of fun to set up
Carin and Jared wrote their own vows! Love!
Her dad read a story her mom had found about letting go of a child … there wasn’t a dry eye in the church!
The “Famous Kiss” recreation that Carin wanted to do!
Here’s one of those “stolen glances” I mentioned:
Mother / daughter dances are something that is becoming more and more common at recent weddings. Carin and her mom pulled in her two sisters after a couple of minutes:
This was one of the last shots we took at their engagement session, shown here in their custom guestbook. I was hoping they wouldn’t think I was cheesy when I suggested it, but I love how it turned out. Its supposed to represent Carin staying behind while Jared goes away. I just love the mood of the photo.

Brian and Jeanie – Engaged! {Thibodaux Wedding Photographer}

Jeanie was one of those brides who had a few visions for her engagement portraits and that always makes things fun and interesting! Especially since I was once again shooting at Laurel Valley (which honestly, never gets old!) From small props to a full picnic spread and a tribute to Dirty Dancing, we had a blast shooting their engagement portraits! I hope you guys enjoy them and I look forward to the wedding next year!
