Harper – 9 Months {Houma Baby Photographer}

Harper is such a sweet baby but oh-so-serious! We decided on indoors in the studio for her 9 month session because we weren’t sure what the weather would be like. Her mom had such a beautiful dress and cute accessories for her! But little Harper didn’t seem to be at her best and wasn’t too happy for us. After it turned out that she had an ear infection and was getting sick, we decided to try again a week later when she was feeling better. She wasn’t as unhappy or fussy but she definitely didn’t want to give us any smiles. Thank goodness her serious looks are just as beautiful! I’m really looking forward to her 1 year session in May, I’m determined to get some laughs out of her!

Julia – 4 Months {Houma Baby Photographer}

Julia is one of the cutest little babies I’ve photographed, I just love her chubby rolls and big dark eyes! She was such a serious little thing, a bit hard to make smile, but when she did, her whole face lights up! Her mommy always has such cute accessories for her! I’ve known her mom Courtney since she was barely a teenager; she’s one of my best friend’s little sisters and is the same age as my sister. As always, its so much fun to watch these babies grow and I can’t wait until Julia’s next session!

We took these in my home studio – I just love doing studio work and can’t wait until I can have my own storefront again. Its definitely something we plan to do but I am waiting until Emelyn is in school full time so that I can put more time into it than I was able to before.

Isn’t she just beautiful??

Trevor and Kristen {Houma Wedding Photography}

Trevor and Kristen were married at the beautiful St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux and had their reception at Royal Villa in Raceland. This was my first time at Royal Villa and it was great working with Danny over there. Kristen was able to get ready in their prep room as well, which is well-equipped for hair and make-up. Congrats you guys, it was a beautiful wedding and I hope you enjoyed Colorado!

I love it when the little ones wear something other than tuxedos, these outfits were so cute!

Avery – 9 Months Old {Houma Child Photographer}

Aaaahhh, my little Avery is almost a year old! I can’t even believe it, she’s growing up way too fast and considering she’s probably the last baby of our family, that makes me so sad. When she started sitting up, I told my sister to knock her down, she doesn’t need to grow up so quickly

I have been trying to post these photos for a month now but my internet has been acting up and every time I try to upload these photos, something goes wrong. Avery was such a sweet heart for her photos, she’s always happy and smiling and its so easy to make her laugh. I love her so much and can’t wait until her 1 year photos!

This first photo was a recreation of one that my mom has of herself as a child. She was sitting in a stroller exactly like this with her two older sisters next to her. Avery looks a lot like my mom as a baby, so it really was fun to do!

This metal tub was my grandpa’s bathtub when he was a baby. I took Hayden’s 9 month photos in it as well.

Digital Wedding Forum Convention 2012

In the 4, almost 5 years that I’ve been a photographer, I’ve gone to a few smaller workshops here and there but had never been able to make it to a larger convention. When I found out that the DWF convention was going to be in New Orleans this year, I knew I couldn’t miss it. The DWF is a forum for digital wedding photographers that I’ve been a member of for a few years now. Its a fantastic group of photographers and a great resource of information. The convention was 4 days and coincided with Imaging USA, which is another photographer’s convention that was in town. Imaging was a larger group with more classes, but there were probably thousands of photographers there and the classes were large and plentiful. Several classes went on at the same time so you had to choose which ones to attend and it stressed me out just thinking about it! I decided on the DWF because of the smaller forum and the schedule of having only one speaker at a time.

The speakers mostly talked about style, inspiration and art with a few technical tips thrown in here and there. It was an incredible experience. I met so many photographers and I can’t wait until next year (hoping that there is one!) This time around, I was a little more reserved and should have put myself out there a bit more but I tend to be a little shy around new people. I can’t bring myself to just walk up to a group of people and introduce myself and a large part of the members already knew each other. Next year, I look forward to reconnecting with the photographers I met as well as meeting lots of new ones!

The first night I was there, I got to go on a shoot with Jerry Ghionis where he showed how he works with his new Ice Light. With a couple of models, we walked all around downtown New Orleans at night – we didn’t even start until 10pm. It was so much fun and amazing to watch Jerry in action – watching photographers work is something I love, you can learn so much just from observing.

Anyway, the following images were taken pretty much over or under Jerry’s shoulder while he was working and I can’t take credit for lighting or posing. I just thought it would be fun to show what we did that night and what knowledge I hope to bring next time I have a night wedding!

I got to use another photographer’s 70-200 for this one … the other ones I only had my 85mm with me

Holiday Sessions – Day 2 {Houma Family Photographer}

Day 2 of my holiday sessions started with another family I’ve known for a while. The first time I worked with them, Victoria was only 18 months old and one of the most beautiful little girls I’d seen. She’s still just as beautiful and now she has a precious little brother along for the session. Mom, Amy, jumped in for a couple of shots, too. I love Victoria’s dress and both kids were perfect for the session. Again, I used a different location and moved things around just a little.

My next client has been friends with my sister since elementary school and I also took newborn photos of her. Ms. Mckenzie also took a little while to warm up, but she did great in the end! Isn’t she precious? Loved her dress, too!

Another previous client came next … I first met them during my holiday sessions last year and I’m looking forward to meeting their new addition! Again, the kids were angels and so easy to photograph! Such a sweet family!

And yet another previous client came next, this is my 3rd year photographing them as a family for my holiday sessions. Jake went to preschool with Hayden, so we saw them around school events as well. He’s a character and so fun to interact with, he had some great jokes!

And last but not least, another family that found me through last year’s holiday sessions. Tiffany and I had met when our boys were in the same preschool class. Both of her boys are also fun to photograph, I love watching them interact!

Holiday Sessions – Day 1 {Houma family photographer}

My holiday sessions this year were a little bit different from what I’ve done in the past. I wanted to stylize the sessions a bit so that they looked a little more personal and unique. They were all shot over a 2 day period in the same location, just different areas of that location. Each group of sessions was set up just a little differently and I was so happy with the results. I didn’t post these when I edited them a couple of months ago because many of the photos were used as holiday cards and I didn’t want to spoil them for the families. This morning, I realized I’d never posted them so here they are! Every session was a previous client which made them so special to me. I just love seeing my clients come back year after year! A few of them have even done holiday sessions with me every year since I began them!

This is Aubrey, I shot her newborn photos last year and we did these for her first birthday. She is just the sweetest thing and she did exceptionally well considering it was freezing for her session!

Next up is Ms. Gracie and her parents. I’ve also been photographing her since she was a newborn. If you follow my work, you may remember her newborn session, it still is one of my favorites that I’ve done. She was such a tiny but chunky little peanut and her little tongue was poking out during a lot of the shots. Two years later, I have photographed her and her family several times but this time was by far the most challenging! She didn’t want to have much to do with the camera and it took my “magic fairy dust” to even get her sitting down for any length of time! Sean and Heather, I’m so excited about shooting your wedding this June, Gracie is going to make the cutest flower girl ever

My third family of the morning is also pretty special to me. Jen and I went to high school together and pledged the same sorority in college. I shot their wedding a couple of years ago as well as Joseph’s newborn photos. We sat around talking for almost an hour once we were done shooting, I just love all three of them!

The second half of the day, I had moved things over to another area of the property and set them up a little differently. I get bored if I do the same thing too many times! This half started off with yet another long-time client. I met Kristen 4 years ago when I first started shooting seniors; she found me on the internet and booked me for her brother’s senior portraits. I then shot her maternity and newborn and have seen them every year since for Jonathan’s birthday pics. Kristen and I have talked endlessly about nursing our little ones and Jonathan was born just a few days before my niece, Adalyn. Again, I love this family!

And finally, my sister and her family came by to get some photos done. We’ve never really been successful with family shots over the years so we were quite ecstatic to get the following ones!
